Join Us in Ending Sexual Violence in All it’s Forms

Something important is coming… May is Sexual Violence Prevention Month. Across Canada, this campaign raises awareness about a form of gender-based violence that can take many forms.

In fact, sexual violence is a broad term that the Gender-Based Learning Network defines as “any violence, physical or psychological, carried out through sexual means or by targeting sexuality.” Examples include:

  • cyber sexual harassment
  • childhood sexual abuse
  • sexual assault
  • drug-facilitated sexual assault
  • rape during armed conflict
  • sexual exploitation
  • stalking
  • sexual cyber harassment
  • trafficking
  • indecent/sexualized exposure
  • unwanted comments or jokes,  etc.

Les Essentielles and Victoria Faulkner Women’s Centre coordinate the Sexual Violence Prevention Month camapaign in Yukon.  This year’s campaign will focus on teens.
