Healthy Workplaces Campaign Shines Spotlight on the Trades

Over the last 4 weeks, Yukon Women in Trades & Technology has delivered an impactful public awareness campaign motivating everyone to take responsibility in creating a positive workplace.  The campaign coincided with Healthy Workplace Month and calls for “a strong foundation of respect and zero tolerance for harassment” across the trades.

The campaign exposed alarming regularities of sexual harassment on job sites.  In one stat* shared by YWITT on their website, 6 in 10 women and 3 in 10 men reported harassment on worksites across Canada in 2024.

In one of their social media posts, YWITT shared real, and inappropriate, texts that Yukon women in the trades received from coworkers which left the recipients feeling uncomfortable and violated.

The campaign goes on to share many resources, tips and benefits to create a healthy workplace for everyone. Check out the ‘Healthy Workplaces’ section of the YWITT website to learn:

  • Options on what to do if you EXPERIENCE sexual harassment in the workplace.
  • What to do if you WITNESS sexual harassment on your worksite.
  • How SUPERVISE and leaders can take action to create safe places for all their crews.
  • Wide-spread benefits for EVERYONE, (and the business!), of a harassment-free workplace.

The posters and social media posts from the campaign are also featured on the website. Alternatively you can pull them up on YWITT’s socials by searching under the tagline “strong crews are built on respect”.
