UPDATE: Accessible Abortion Care in a Safe Location

The Yukon Status of Women Council received a favourable response from the Minister of Health and Social Services to their open letter requesting support for the Opal Clinic at Whitehorse General Hospital. The letter was signed in solidarity by members of the Reproductive Care Coalition and the Yukon Women’s Coalition – all of whom believe that Yukoners deserve accessible abortion care in a safe location.

The open letter, sent September 4th to the territorial Minister of Health & Social Services and the Minister of the Women & Gender Equity Directorate, requested that abortion services be included in the mandate of the Whitehorse General Hospital.

The signatories are grateful to the Minister of Health and Social Services for her recent response to this urgent issue. Yukon Status of Women Council will be paying close attention to the territorial government’s support for abortion services going forward.
